Light Works |
Shining lights among composers, such as Johannes Ockeghem, Josquin Desprez and Gilles Binchois, throw long shadows up to the present day. New perspectives, connections and experiences are created by the meeting of their groundbreaking vocal works with improvised music composed in our time. Contemporary composer Simon Oberleitner has brought this together in a dialogue with the grand masters of the Renaissance, thus spanning centuries. The jazz trio Owls and the vocal ensemble Company of Music combine old and new music that resounds with memories, transformations and responses. The programme takes place live with a light and shadow performance by the Dutch artist Roos van Haaften. |

Owls |
Owls is an Austrian jazz piano trio whose music is rooted in the tradition of European jazz but transcends stylistic borders in a refreshing and unconventional way, combining elements from jazz, electronic music, classical music and pop – all with an unwavering commitment to sound aesthetics. The creative core of the trio is formed by its two founding members, pianist and composer Simon Oberleitner and drummer Konstantin Kräutler-Horváth, who are constantly expanding the format for collaborations. To complete the trio setting, they are currently joined by double bassist Andreas Waelti. Since their establishment in 2015, they have released three albums: Crumbling Light (ATS Records), Wendolins Monocle (Intersections) and Light Works (col legno), that are all conceptualized to explore the relationship of human beings to each other and to their environment. |

Company of Music |
Founded in 2002 by Johannes Hiemetsberger, the Company of Music's very first concert programme revealed the basic features of its artistic identity: music by Anestis Logothetis, Henry Purcell and György Ligeti, presented in a variety of settings and as close to the audience as possible, both solo and choral, and characterised by a passion for the highest artistic quality and the joy of making music. Today, as the only professional vocal ensemble with its own cycle in the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Austrian Company of Music is firmly anchored in the concert life of the city. With its thematically structured programmes, it pursues the goal of opening up new approaches and experiences of contemporary vocal music to the audience in an interdisciplinary manner. |
