"Wunderrad" |
The Knoedel move out into the world: first with a rocket into space and then back down to Earth again; full of energy "aui" (up) onto the glacier, then out into the vastness of the Atacama Desert. Searching for inspiration, the Knoedel came across the East Tyrolean mathematician and inventor Simon Stampfer (1790-1864). Stampfer is the inventor of the stroboscopic disk, which became the cornerstone of what is known as "stop motion" in fim technology. So, this is the Knoedel's stroboscopic disk: a New Alpime Chamber Music album featuring twelve musical short stories about miracles and wonder.

Die Knoedel |

The Knoedel (formerly “Die Knödel”) were founded by graduates of the Tyrolean Conservatory and by musicians with a background in folk music. The initial idea of Christof Dienz was to perform folk music in a contemporary way. This was the starting point and after Christoph Moser became manager of the group, numerous concerts in Europe, North America, Japan and Russia followed until in 2000 the group dissolved and the members pursued their own musical paths.
After a 17-year break, the ensemble celebrated their comeback with (almost) the same line-up and with the changed name “Knoedel”. In 2018 they worked on the film music for “Das Wunder von Wörgl” (AUT, 2018, director: Urs Egger) and in 2019 the album Still was released by col legno music. After this they worked on a music theater about Benedikt Anton Aufschaniter from which the album Aufschnaiter:in emerged and finally on the new album “Wunderrad”. |
