short stories
Established in 1989, the Erste Bank annually awards an exceptional composer in honor of his / her creative work. In collaboration with Klangforum Wien the Erste Bank Composition Award includes performances of the awarded composition with and by Klangforum Wien as part of the
Wien Modern festival and the release of a portrait album.

Christof Ressi is a composer, arranger, software developer and multimedia artist and price-winner in 2021. The album short stories contains three pieces: the awarded piece short stories (Tim Anderson and Klangforum Wien), Am Anfang war das A and Arcade|Arcadia, both pieces performed by Black Page Orchestra.

In pop culture, the term “crossover” is used when musicians
or artists combine different music styles, genres or compositional techniques. Christof Ressi goes one step further than a crossover: elements of classical and new music are just as present as elements of 1990’s Eurodance and sound effects of old computer games. And this not only in the sense of referring to something past but in the sense of referring,
actualizing and re-assembling. Facing the nostalgic and contemporary elements present in Ressi’s music it seems appropriate to talk about a hyper-accelerated hauntological glitch pop aesthetic.
Christof Ressi
Christof Ressi is a composer, performer, arranger, media artist and software developer from Austria. His musical work defies all categories and moves fluidly between styles and genres such as New Music, jazz, free improvisation, noise and computer music. In his work series “game over” he investigates the artistic possibilities of musical computer game environments.
His music has been performed in many countries worldwide and his computer music work has been featured at international conferences such as NIME, LAC or ICMC. He has won several prizes, including the SKE Publicity Prize and Erste Bank Composition Award. In 2020 he was one
of the two winners of the 8th International Johann-Joseph-Fux Opera Composition Competition. He regularly performs with clarinet player Szilárd Benes under the name “ressi / benes”, focusing on audiovisual performances. He contributes
