“Without knocking first, Charlatan steps into the room, which is only dimly lit. On flinches when he sees this stranger step into the room." (from: Manès Sperber, ‘Charlatan und seine Zeit’, Vienna 1924)
Fascinated by the term CHARLATAN and its rich world of images and thoughts, the trio VOS presents its debut album of the same name. Texts, moods, visual impressions, terms and associations form the basis of Boris Valentinitsch’s compositions. The interweaving of diverse musical influences within the formation offers space for developments, deconstructions and breaks in terms of arrangement and improvisation. From one moment to another, a flowing musical body emerges, in which attention can be drawn to this or that movement, but the elements are nevertheless connected, mutually dependent and form a whole, only to dissolve again.

Boris Valentinitsch lives and works as a pianist, composer and graphic designer in Vienna. His passion for improvisation and composition is nourished by cross-genre musical influences and the interweaving of jazz, classical and contemporary music. Art and literature are essential sources of his inspiration for creating overarching connections and opening up spaces in which an intuitive and open access to music can develop. In addition to various band projects, he composes music for theater and film. In 2018 his debut album NOTES for solo piano was released.
Maximilian Oelz lives as a freelance double and electric bass player in Vienna. He is a member of the Ensemble PHACE, the Vorarlberg Symphony Orchestra and the Atout chamber music group. Other stations of his activity include the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Beethoven Philharmonie, the New Opera Vienna, the Klangforum Wien, the Volksoper Vienna, the Tango Orchestra Band-o-neon and the Sirene Opera Theater.
As a percussionist and composer, Judith Schwarz works in numerous formations, such as the quintet CHUFFDRONE, the band collective ‘Little Rosies Kindergarten’, the trio ‘First Gig Never Happened’, and the duo HOFMANINGER / SCHWARZ. Her other projects include the ‘Gina Schwarz Pannonica Project’, Christian Muthspiel’s ‘Orjazztra’, the ‘Peter Ponger New Trio’ and the ‘Vienna Klezmore Orchestra’.
